Privacy policy
The short version. Your family’s chart (names, tasks, rewards, gems and history) lives on your phone and in your own iCloud, where we cannot read it. There is no Minutio account. A few things do leave the phone: anonymous usage statistics, which you can switch off; your subscription, which Apple and RevenueCat handle; and a message, only when you send us feedback. No names are ever part of them. There are no ads, no tracking and nothing is sold.
Who we are
Minutio is made by Josep Salvat, an independent developer based in Barcelona, Spain (“we”, “us”), who is the controller of the personal data described here. For anything in this policy you can write to feedback@minutio.app.
What the app stores
Minutio needs a small amount of information to run your family’s chore chart. It is stored in the app’s private storage on your device and, as the next section explains, in your iCloud.
| Information | Why the app keeps it |
|---|---|
| Each child’s first name (or a nickname), the avatar and the colour chosen for them | To show whose tasks, gems and rewards are whose |
| Your first name, and the first name of any other adult you invite | To greet you and to show which adult ticked off a task |
| Your tasks and rewards, with their gem values, schedules and reminder times | To build each day’s list and the reward catalog |
| Gem balances and a history of tasks done, rewards claimed and manual adjustments, including any note you type on an adjustment | To show balances and the stats for today, this week and this month |
| App settings, such as the bank mode, week start and reminder times | To remember how you set the app up |
| Whether the family’s subscription is active, and until when | So that both adults’ phones unlock the app |
During setup the app also asks each child’s age range and what is hardest at home. It uses the answers to suggest tasks and rewards; they are not kept in the family’s chart and are not sent anywhere except as the anonymous answer categories described under usage statistics.
The app does not ask for, and cannot access, your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, location or health data. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone; no server sends them.
iCloud and sharing with another adult
If you are signed in to iCloud, the family you create is also saved in your private iCloud database, using Apple’s CloudKit service. This lets you get your family back after reinstalling the app or on a new phone. Apple stores it under your Apple Account, under Apple’s privacy policy; we have no access to it and cannot read it.
When you invite another adult with a code or a link, the family is shared with that person through iCloud sharing, and both phones show the same children, tasks, rewards, balances and history. Each adult is recognised by an identifier that iCloud creates for Minutio; it is not your email address or phone number. You can remove the other adult, or they can leave the family, at any time from Settings › Family; from then on they no longer receive the family’s data.
Anonymous usage statistics
To understand which parts of Minutio are useful and which are confusing, the app sends anonymous usage events: for example that a step of the setup was viewed, that a task was created or ticked off, that a reward was claimed or that the paywall was shown. Events carry only counts, choices from fixed lists and on/off settings, such as how many children or tasks a family has, how many gems a task is worth, which setup answers were picked from the list, or whether a free trial was offered. In particular:
- Names never leave the device in an event: not children’s, not adults’, not the names of tasks or rewards, and not any text you type.
- Events are grouped under a random identifier created when the app is installed. We never link it to a name, an email address, your Apple Account or an advertising identifier.
- Like any app, the analytics library sends technical details with each event: device model, iOS and app version, language and time zone. The IP address of the request is discarded rather than stored.
- There is no session recording and no automatic capture of what is on the screen.
These events are processed for us by PostHog on servers in the European Union, under a data‑processing agreement. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the app, which we consider proportionate because the events are anonymous and you can stop them.
Turning it off. Open Settings in the app and switch off “Share anonymous usage data”. From that moment the app sends no more usage events. Turning it back on is just as easy.
Your subscription
Minutio is unlocked with an auto‑renewable subscription bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card, your name or your Apple Account.
To check whether a subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service. RevenueCat receives the App Store purchase records of this app (which plan, when it started, renewals, trials and cancellations) under a random identifier created by the app, together with technical details such as the device model, iOS version, country of the store and the IP address of the request. The legal basis is the performance of your subscription contract.
Apple Ads attribution. Once per install, the app asks Apple’s AdServices framework whether the download came from an ad on the App Store, and if so which Apple Ads campaign, ad group and keyword. RevenueCat stores that answer next to the subscription, so we can see which campaigns bring families who subscribe. This uses no advertising identifier, does not follow you across other apps or websites, and is not used to show you ads. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring our own App Store advertising.
Feedback you send us
If you write to us from Settings › Send us your feedback, the app sends your message and, only if you fill it in, the contact you give us (an email address or a Discord username). It adds the app version, iOS version, device type, language and whether the family has a subscription, so we can reproduce problems. The message is delivered to a private channel on Discord that only we can read. We use it to answer you and to improve the app. The legal basis is your consent, given by sending the message.
Children
Minutio is designed to be installed, set up and paid for by a parent or guardian. Children use it only in kid view, on that adult’s phone or iPad; kid view is read‑only and cannot enter or change any information, and only an adult can leave it.
The only information about a child that the app holds is what the adult chooses to type: a first name or nickname, an avatar and a colour, plus the tasks, gems and rewards around them. It stays on the device and in the adults’ iCloud. It is never part of the usage statistics, is never sent to RevenueCat or Discord, and we never receive it, so we never sell or share children’s personal information. Nicknames work just as well as real names.
No ads, no tracking
Minutio shows no advertising and contains no advertising network. It does not access your device’s advertising identifier, does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and does not sell or share data with data brokers.
Service providers and transfers
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | App Store purchases, iCloud storage and sharing, Apple Ads attribution | Under Apple’s own privacy policy |
| PostHog | Anonymous usage statistics | European Union |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Subscription status and attribution | United States |
| Discord, Inc. | Delivering feedback you send | United States |
| Google (Analytics) | Visit statistics for this website | European Union and United States |
Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by the safeguards those providers offer under the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep data
- Your family’s chart stays on your device and in your iCloud until you delete it (see below).
- Usage statistics are kept for as long as they help us compare versions of the app; they are anonymous throughout.
- Subscription records are kept by RevenueCat for as long as we use the service, as purchase records must be kept for accounting.
- Feedback messages are kept for as long as needed to answer and act on them, and deleted on request.
This website
This site is a set of static pages. For the length of a visit it keeps the name of the campaign that brought you, so the App Store download link can carry it.
To know how many people visit and where they come from, the site uses Google Analytics. It sets two cookies of its own, _ga and _ga_KFHCYEX5F1, holding a random identifier so that a returning visitor is not counted twice; they expire after two years. Each page view is counted with the page, the referring site or campaign, the language and type of browser and device, and an approximate location (country and city) that Google derives from the IP address and does not store. We also count taps on the App Store button. Google signals and advertising features are switched off, so this data is not used for ads or linked to a Google account. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used. You can delete these cookies in your browser at any time, and content blockers that block Google Analytics stop it entirely.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers and Google receives the technical information that comes with any web request, such as your IP address; see Google Fonts’ privacy notes. The hosting provider that serves these pages may keep standard server logs for security purposes.
If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to answer you, and we do not add you to any list.
Your rights and how to delete
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, delete and export your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to withdraw consent. With Minutio you can do most of it yourself:
- See and correct everything the app holds in the app itself.
- Delete from this phone by deleting the app.
- Delete from iCloud in iOS Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage, by choosing Minutio, if it is listed, and deleting its data.
- Stop sharing with another adult from Settings › Family.
- Object to usage statistics by switching off “Share anonymous usage data” in Settings.
- Cancel the subscription in iOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
Because the usage statistics and subscription records carry no name or email, we cannot look them up by who you are. If you want your subscription record or a feedback message deleted, write to us with the date and, for feedback, the contact you gave, and we will do our best to find and erase it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).
Changes to this policy
If Minutio starts collecting anything not described here, we will update this policy before that version of the app is released. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.
